Refurbishment of an Art Deco house taking inspiration in its original style

Our clients bought this 1930’s two storey house in Hampstead Garden Suburb, London, which was in total need of modernisation. This was a great opportunity to redesign the layout to maximise the flow within the social areas while creating a better ratios of bedrooms and bathrooms.

Many clients this days ask for an open plan kitchen, but there are still many families that see the benefits of a separate kitchen which can contain the smells while cooking and something the mess when having guest around. What we did was to create large door to flow better into what was before the dining room, which was joint with a full height opening with the Reception.

The clients wanted to place the TV in the reception without being the centre piece of the room. to this end, we created a feature wall which was cladded in an arabesque black marble, which holds the TV in a recess over the feature bioethanol hole in the wall fireplace. The black marble completely disguising the TV.

The garage was converted into a Bike storage with access from the driveway renewed garage doors, a cloakroom, a Guest Toilet and a laundry room.

The kitchen features now a new conservation Critall double door matching the other in the rear elevation which provides a direct link to the garden. The kitchen redone with contemporary look has new units with a layout that also creates a breakfast counter also used as a buffet when serving guests.
