Modern extension to a Victorian semidetached house
This Victorian house in a beautiful crescent in Hackney, served as a vicarage at the time it was built. Located within a conservation area, our clients wanted to adapt the house for a young family of three. The main challenge was to convince the planners to allow the demolition of an original badly built extension. We managed this by designing a sympathetic extension , with a modern language, using salvaged bricks and matching existing materials (such as slate). The result was a beautiful four bedroom house, including two ensuite, and a family bathroom; a study, reception, dining room, kitchen and breakfast area.
