The conversion of a derelict Victorian Terrace house into a modern residential development

This small Victorian Terrace House of only 110 sq.m within a conservation area in Kensington & Chelsea was purchased by our clients on an auction in a state of complete disrepair. The house also backs onto a railway, about 20m below the level of the house. The first challenge was to stitch and underpin the house to prevent it from falling, and then to design a family home as a turnkey project including the interiors. By a moving skylight, we created a roof terrace giving a valuable amenity to the house with a well-proportioned deck area.
