Residential Development

Belgravia

Conversion of Grade II * listed building within Grosvenor State from offices to high- end residential.

This generous property is comprised of a basement plus four storeys built in the early part of the 19th century. lt forms part of the Grade ll* listed terrace within the Belgravia Conservation Area and the plot also includes an extension to the rear Wilton Mews street. Since 1940’s the house has hosted the headquarters of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, being the extension to Wilton Mews built in the early 1950’s. We were requested to take the building back to its original use and accommodate for a single family dwelling, including all the necessary amenities to provide high quality living.

The historical significance of the building and the modern requirements of a family house made us work in a dichotomy. We added value to the old building in order to be sensitive towards its historic meaning by matching the essence of the original spaces with the requirements of contemporary high-end standards whilst creating a new extension hosting all the leisure amenities including a swimming pool, gym, sauna, games room, dining and kitchen area and a two-car garage. The mews extension is designed to service the main building respecting the traditional hierarchy of storeys and sequence of spaces that will lead from a historical building into a new modern one.

Apart from the quality of the architecture and the finishes, the development is also complemented with a full Interior Design scheme and the highest technological advantages. Domotics, remote security control with CCTV, intelligent lighting, under-floor heating, air conditioning throughout and high speed internet connection bring a historic building into the 21st century.
