Elegant Modernisation of a Victorian First-Floor Flat in Belsize Park

This first-floor flat in a converted early Victorian building in Belsize Park transformed into a bright, spacious home while retaining its original features and impressive ceiling heights. The renovation included a full modernisation of wiring, plumbing, and heating systems.

The redesign created a functional and stylish layout. The master bedroom now includes an en-suite bathroom and a walk-in closet. Two additional bedrooms—a double and a single—share a family bathroom. The single bedroom also functions as a study, with a sliding door that opens widely into the hall.

The kitchen relocated to the former front bedroom, gaining a small balcony and opening to the main living room through a counter bar. This change created a larger, more inviting space. Additionally, double doors between the living room and entrance hall improve circulation. The laundry cupboard enlarged, and new joinery installed throughout the bedrooms offers built-in wardrobes, headboards, and extra storage. Original cornicing remains intact, with new ceiling moulding added where needed.

Bedrooms impacted by the reconfiguration received matching new cornices.

Overall, the project successfully turned the flat into a modern, elegant home while preserving the charm and character of its Victorian origins.
