Modern Extension to a Victorian House in Hackney
This Victorian house extension in Hackney adapted a former vicarage, set in a beautiful crescent within a conservation area, for a young family of three. The main challenge was convincing the planners to allow the demolition of a badly built original extension. We achieved this by designing a sympathetic replacement with a modern language, using salvaged bricks and matching existing materials such as slate. The result is a beautiful four-bedroom house — two with en-suites, plus a family bathroom — together with a study, reception, dining room, kitchen and breakfast area.
