Our client wanted to create a new breakfast area to enjoy with his growing family. The Queen Ann style house backs onto a beautiful French manicured garden whose symmetry any extension to the house would have ruined.
The proposal was to create two similar structures on either side of the garden: one would be roofed and glazed to provide the breakfast area and the other would be completely open as a pergola to providing shade and completing the symmetry. We broke with the period of the house and created instead a Japanese inspired garden structure.
